I grew up in Arkansas, and went to the University of Arkansas. I was never impressed with Texan's bragging about their big state.
Until 1982 when I drove from Texarkana to El Paso.
It is BIG.
My father remembers a road sign in Texarkana before WWII that read - El Paso 1,001 miles.
I really dislike that it takes me at least two hours driving to get out of Texas - and can easily take two days if I go west or south.
Another factoid - Dallas is closer to St Louis than El Paso
