I-70 closed east of Utah in Clorado.

One of our usual Winter drives into Denver, CO is closed due to a rock slide. This may be a long time closure and the shortest by-pass will add about 140 miles to your trip. Rock slide on I-70 in Colorado
  • I used to drive through there at least once a year going between So. Cal and Boulder, it was under construction for the entire 10+ years.

Always a beautiful drive but always wondered about falling rocks especially after they "blew up" the side of the mountain before letting us pass.
  • That is not an unusual place for rockslides to occur. Reports are always that it will take a significant amount of time to reopen, and they always find a way to get traffic moving again in a reasonable amount of time.

The work will not be ideal, but better than the detour.
  • CDOT said it will be closed till Thursday then it will one lane only for both directions so they will alternate cars east and lead by a pilot car till it is fixed could be another week or more
  • Holy smokes Batman - we were just driving back last Sunday. Glad the slide waited until Monday.
