If DW sees this...I'm DM (dead meat)!

Hi All.

After 45+ years as RV"ers we figured it out many, many years ago. Every RV we have owned in all of these years, we have keep them fully stocked with cloths, for every season.

As we use our RVs On-Off all year long, and mostly all Boon-Docking. We only need to bring in then dirty things to be washed and then returned to our RV, simple and easy.

We even keep our Motorhome mostly stocked with food items also, we just make sure nothing that can Freeze does't Freeze, is left in the Motorhome.

This sure makes it very easy to go hit the road in a matter of a very short amount of time.

I love working o our Motorhome, and I am always doing some kind of Maintanence. I even clean the inside of the Motorhome weekly. I mean we have been retired for some time now, so it keeps me busy. And we have never had a Flat Tire, or a Blow-Out of have ever Broken-Down.

I guess we just look at it this way. Take good care of your RV, no matter what kind it is, and your RV will Take good care of you too. None of our RV's have ever seen a so called Master RV Tech, or any other kind of a Tech, as I do everything myself.

This is what we are doing - at least me the DW. I have so many clothes that I can keep clothes in the MH so I don't have to pack and unpack. I agree;- my DH takes 1/3 of what I take. But we are new to the Class A business and DH still works. We are keeping Georgie (the MHs) name on the driveway (had it redone - the driveway that is) so actually I can easily get to any clothes I may have left that I just have to have. ;)

I pack the clothes for both of us and carry it back and forth. DH packs the food and normally carries it back and forth. We are both pretty careful not to overpack too much. But...to answer the original OP question -

When I posted this request, I had no idea I'd get this amount of replies! I figured I was not alone in my concern about the DW carrying what (I) considered to be excessive clothing on even short trips. Wrong! It seems to be a rather universal issue (notice I didn't call it a problem since there is still a possibility my DW might see this thread):). So, like so many other male spouses, I'll continue loading and unloading the DW's excessive clothing but darned if I'll do it with a smile on my face :)!

I must be lucky! We have both learned over the decades not to pack too much, especially when flying; ONE carry on each, no checked luggage. Last summer, a week each in Ireland and Portugal, year before three weeks in England, a week in Madrid, the year before that 2 1/2 weeks, Paris, Marrakech, Rome and London. All involving varying weather and climate.

In the motorhome however. . . that is a different story. We both leave clothes in it, take a day to decide what else to pack or leave and still have way toooooo much stuff. I ALWAYS get back from our winter stay in Mexico with clothes I haven't worn. :S

I pack more than my wife. I have always packed an extra suit and shirt when giving a speech even 20 miles from home. A backup in case of accidents. So my mantra is backup. Wife not even close to my obsession with having backup. Makes me feel better so what the heck.

Needless to say, we only lasted a few years,.....FULLTIMING.
BUT, now we have a house with closets, cabinets, attic, and 3-car garage that are plumb FULL. PLUS, our big motorhome is still full to the brim.
Actually, I'm equally as guilty. Sometimes I wonder how it would be if we could afford like a 30-room mansion (with large closets of course)????

My wife does the same thing. The funny part is when we used to go on the goldwing for a weeks ride she could pack everything she needed in the saddle bags. If we went for a weekend in the car she needed two suitcases.

Great thread. We have a large hanging closet in the back of our coach. My wife fills her side even for a 4 day trip. When we are done with our four day trip all!!!! towels, sheets, and smaller throw rugs need to be removed to wash all of them if they need it or not. In the bathroom she packs it with at least five times as much stuff as me. I take up one little place in the bathroom and she fills all!! the remaining cabinets. And then there is the food. Since there is always way too much food brought I have to haul it out and back. And then there are the Costco boxes of trash bags (two sizes), at least a dozen rolls of paper towels. Four types of toilet bowel cleaner.

I have just given up mentioning it. This time of year even in San Diego it is pretty cool so not so bad. But in the summer I work up quite a sweat hauling the stuff.

I do bring more electronics stuff than she does. Two laptops, iPad, iPod, DVD's, camera bag with several lens, several camp books.

I don't care. Still worth it to be able to camp and drive the motorhome. Plus she does do most of the cooking and cleaning.

Wife and I had the too many clothes conversation a while back. We decided to clean the closets. I have only a few shirts that I wear. I had 30 shirts in the MH. Hope my wife doesn't read this because I'm sure she'll tell yours.
