Intermittent dash AC and check engine light FIXED UPDATE

2005 Fleetwood CAT C7. 40k miles

I had posted before about my intermittent dash AC. Would blow cold for between 20 minutes. Refrigerant levels were fine.
I recently had a full service completed by a small independent diesel shop in Deland.
He said it is not uncommon symptom for a bad thermostat. So for about a $100 parts and labor he replaced it. I just did a six hour round trip and had cold AC both ways. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

I was also getting a random check engine light. Gauges normal. Ran fine except it went into limp mode. I bought a Silverleaf setup which reported out of range signal from the turbo boost pressure sensor.

The darn part was $190 and 20 minutes of labor and no check engine light in six hours.

Hopefully good for another 40,000 miles.
  • The AC not working because of a temperature sensor reading is not just limited to RV's. On my Chevy HHR, I occasionally get an out of range temperature reading on my scan gauge and a zero reading on my dash temperature gauge. As soon as that shows up, the AC will no longer work.
Fortunately or unfortunately with today's computer controlled systems, one sensor reading can affect several different systems.
You were lucky to find a shop with a mechanic that knew what he was doing instead of taking it to another shop that would have replaced the AC compressor and thrown a lot of other parts at the coach until they finally found the single issue that was causing the problem. Be sure to post your experience in the RV service review website(RV Service) so that others can utilize this shop if they are in the area.
  • Updates are great, but did you happen to post your results in the original thread?
  • Thanks for giving us an update. Hopefully we can learn from someone else. JMO
