Inverter

Hello folks..,

Here is my problem
Inverter Magnum ME2012 2000w

Batteries are fully charged and in a good working condition
Neither the power light or the fault light on the inverter come on when the inverter is attached to a fully charged battery.

120V work inside mh perfectly when attached to 120v plug

12V works perfewctly inside mh but the inverter refuse to switch on.

I had a look at all the breaker and fuses with no success

When i instaled the 4 beatteries i inverse 2 of them for a few seconde with inverter on.

Probably hurt the inverter but what parts of the inverter had been destroyed?
  • Thaks folks..,

The problem was the 300 amp fuse.
Like you said Doug...the fuse did the job and blow.
    Thanks

  • thanks folks...

You were right i plugged in directly a 12v battery and guess what....the inverter work perfectly.

Dougrainer you were right just beside the battery bank there is a big 250 300amp fuse...i do not know yet if the fuse is ok but i will have a check today and will let you know.
    Thanks again
  • I agree, call Magnum Energy they are very helpful. If your inverter can be repaired you can ask them for an authorized repair facility near you or you can send it to them. I had mine repaired at a recommended shop and it was cheaper than what I was quoted by Magnum Energy.

"CAUTION: The inverter is NOT reverse polarity protected. If this happens, the inverter
will be damaged and will not be covered under warranty. Before connecting the DC
wires from the batteries to the inverter, verify the correct battery voltage and polarity
using a voltmeter. If the positive terminal of the battery is connected to the negative
terminal of the inverter and vice versa, severe damage will result. If necessary, color
code the cables (with colored tape); red for positive (+), and marked white for negative
    (-) to avoid polarity confusion."

It appears you may have fried the inverter.....I hope this is not the case...the thing retails for almost $1,000.
  • Reset the circuit breaker on the Mag. Disconnect the remote plug on the Mag and see if that will reset it
  • Call Magnum support..they are very good and very helpful..Also, there is a reset button on the inverter a small gray button with a flashing light next to it..try that...
  • I doubt reversing the batteries would have caused the Inverter to have a burnt out part. Disconnect 120 power and disconnect the 12 volt POSITIVE cable to the Inverter for 10 minutes. Reconnect the Battery cable to the Inverter and then connect 120 power. That will reset the Inverter. Now, BEFORE you do this, have you checked the in line 250/300 amp fuse between the battery bank and the Inverter? THAT fuse may have done its job and blew when you misconnected the batteries. Doug
