on the ISX15 the coolant to the cooler goes from front to back. The port in the rear of the block is the return and goes into a large coolant cavity which also includes the oil cooler assembly.
That cavity in the block runs the entire length of the engine so coolant will get to all cylinders and then up thru the head.
