Kitchen sink water problem

We have developed a kitchen sink water problem. We have water in the bathroom sink, toilet, and there is a little hot water faucet (which the electric has been unplugged) all having water. We had some water in the kitchen sink and all of a sudden there is nothing. Has anyone else had this problem? Our RV has been sitting but was winterized. HELP! Jim and Elsie

In days of old before I got bold and moved into an intruder.. We had a sticks and blocks.

Well the hot water was running slower and slower and slower.. We replaced one of the water lines to the water heater with copper and it helped but it still kept getting slower to the point where you could pass water faster than it did.. but like and Rv with the standard flow restricting water pressure regulators. the initial surge was good.

finally I did a bit of thinking, narrowed the "suspect list' down to one specific run of pipe and applied hacksaw and wrench.. yup, serious Arterial Sclerosis (clogging of the arteries).. Took old 1/2 inch pipe to plumbing counter at hardware and said "Duplicate in 3/4 inch" they did.

wife went to do the dishes that evening (She was out when I did the repair) and turned on the hot, it flowed well, just like normal.. Only it did NOT slow down, kept on flowing well.. I can tell you my shower that afternoon was long, hot and lovely. (As was hers later in the evening) We worked crossed shifts.

Thanks to each of you that gave ideas for our plugged water in the kitchen. Jim took apart the water line that went from the filter to the faucet. Yup, it was plugged. Blew it out and I now have more water than I've had for a long time. I guess I thought it was just supposed to not flow strong. Again thanks to all of you for your ideas. Jim and Elsie

A question (And yes I have seen this problem before) Is the kitchen faucet the kind where you pull the head out and use it as a sprayer or is it the kind with the sprayer off to the side (usually right side?)

First kind: Where the hose joins the head, READ CAUTIONS IF YOU PROCEED

Pull the head out and unscrew the collar at the base of the head, CAUTION: if the collar falls back into the swivel part, it is dang hard to pull back out so put a towel over the hose below the collar or put a cloths pin on the hose.

Pull the hose out then you may be able to tap out a cartridge that is just inside the head, or you may be able to reach in with tools and pull it.

This is a multi purpose device, strainer, vacuum breaker, check valve.

Clean it well and re-install

See if it works now (NOTE you will likely get good flow from the hose with the head off.

For the sprayer off to the side types.

Remove the Aerator and clean it (The thing the water actually comes out of). same procedure.

The others ideas are things to check but...do you have an in-line water filter under the sink? If you do and you winterized it may be plugged up or the guts collapsed. Remove it and make a patch line to replace it or replace the filter with a new one.

If you have one, make sure that the water filter under your kitchen sink is not clogged.

Elsie, you mentioned you "had some water in the kitchen sink, then nothing"...does this mean you had a water stream when you opened the faucet and now you don't? did you have a good stream or just a dribble? Is it a single faucet or double? If double, do you have the same problem with hot and cold or just with one or the other?

Things to check:
1. Make sure the valve under the sink is turned on.
2. Unscrew the end piece of the faucet neck. Inside there should be a piece of plastic with holes in it. There will also be a screen inside the end piece. Make sure those are clean of debris and build up. That is known as the aerator....Dennis

The airater is the little piece screwed on to the faucet. Gets cloged with lime and sediment
