kodiak park brake

Pulled into an rv park today in San Diego. Went to set the park brake and it won't set. I push the pedal down the light on the dash comes on but then the pedal comes right back up and the light goes out. Any ideas? Repair shops in the Chula Vista area? 60k miles on the odometer. Thanks.

Jeff
  • If the brake is on when you push the pedal down, then you need to just look at the ratcheting hold thing that the brake release is supposed to release.

It should stick into it's spot.
  • South Coast RV, in Chula Vista it is on the corner of Broadway and K street, the entrance is on K street in front of the car wash, the owner's name is Mike Wendbourne, 801 Broadway & K St, phone is. 619-476-7195, they do good work, fixed my refrigerator, had to take a window out, clean professional work, if you go ask Mike hows the 30-30 working, he will know who it is.

  • No information on the parking brake in my service manual. Probably a broken spring that keeps pedal locked in place.
  • I got under the dash this morning. When I move the release handle the cable on the other end didn't move. Also the short cable for the release had 2 loops in it. I pulled the handle again and the cable broke right at the handle. It was looped at the handle bracket. That's where it snapped off. Now to find another cable.

  • The park brake release cable and handle are discontinued by Chevrolet. WOW! I found one in Washington state and having it shipped. The jacks and slides work without the park brake on.
