Kwikee Step motor

Could someone tell me which Ford power window motor these steps use. I had replaced the one on my old DP and now this one is acting up and I tossed the records on the old one. Please no life history questions....I think it is the pass side front window motor for late 80s & 90s vehicles. Asking before I remove it
  • So--I go back out there today, run it up on the ramps and craw under to check the things Doug suggested. The wiring I thought had been tampered with was the contact for the warning light on the dash if the step is out and that all worked as did the light. I had left the 2 wires coming from the control module unhooked because they were hot even when the step was either in or out. I checked and NO CURRENT PRESENT!!!!! I hooked them up and everything worked like it was supposed to all day and that is the way it is now.....Thanks Doug for your unselfish help as usual. I'll keep my eye on it.
  • Thanks Doug. I have had this DP 2 years and the steps always worked fine so when they started acting up I suspected the motor as it was hot. Got a new motor and realized it was powered up constantly and even the wires were getting warm. I'll get back after it today and it does look to me like someone has rewired it at some time. More later and thanks again.
  • IF the 2 motor wires go directly to the control module, YES, the module is BAD. Has a stuck relay internally. If the Motor wires do not go directly to the control module, then someone has rewired your steps. Doug

PS, In 41 years of working on RV's, I have never seen your problem on a Kwikkee step module
  • I found it...turns out it is not the motor. The motor stays under power all the time and gets hot. 2 wires go to the motor and by switching them I can run the steps in and out but if I leave the wires hooked up the motor gets hot----may be control module. Any Ideas?
