That extreme size limit is only for certain roads and campgrounds within the park. I've taken a 30' RV there on multiple occasions.

Off topic, but here's a funny story about RV length and perception.

A number of years ago our astronomy club was asked to put on a star party for Y-Indian Princesses (YMCA) at Joshua Tree National Park. This was for multiple troops with probably 100 girls and their fathers. They made all the arrangements with the rangers, booked group campsites, and said we would be able to park two motorhomes at the site.

When we arrived they had to rearrange all of their cars so we could park the RV's and unload the telescopes. Because they had so many vehicles, it was impossible for us to park parallel to the road so we had to back into two sites, side by side, perpendicular to the dirt road. We were off the road but barely. At the time, I had a Coachmen Class-C, 3150SS, that was 31' 6" long. Our friend had 32' Damon Intruder.

The rangers came by, looked at the two motorhomes, and said "The little one (Class-C) can stay but the big one (Class-A) has to go." Only 6" difference between them but they thought the Class-A was much bigger than the Class-C probably in no small part due to the height.

In any event, they didn't kick us out altogether and had us park the Class-A behind the ranger station and we doubled up and all slept in the Class-C. They even gave us a ride from the Class-A to the campground and back several times for equipment and supplies.

Of course the rangers there also have an astronomy program, in an outdoor amphitheater, and welcomed our extra telescopes, which were much larger than what they usually used, and our expertise and knowledge. It ended up being a great night and we entertained other campers long after the Indian Princesses had gone to bed.

To answer your question, no, cops don't write tickets to get overtime. There is generally more than enough overtime to go around and cops usually hate going to traffic court. It's a pain in the rear.

Amen. Especially in the current budget atmosphere, departments are forced to run positions vacant rather than have "another mouth to feed". It's cheaper to cover vacant positions, sick leave, and vacations with overtime, voluntary and even involuntary, than it is to hire more staff. Then there's the frequent major incidents that will result in overtime as well. There's more than enough overtime to go around.

There's nothing fun about doubling back to work your shift after spending half the day in court. With so many people now opting just to pay their fines online, and sign up for online traffic school to avoid the points on their license, an officer certainly can't assume that a given citation is going to mean a court appearance anyhow.

Had to double check my info. Pismo says 36ft unless you want to go into the dune area. New brighton dosent state a length, Half Moon bay does say 40ft, as do several others including silverwood st park. I drove to silverwood to check it out I checked every loop I dont know where youIi put 40ft. 35ft would be pushing it. I will call the ranger station before I trust their camping reservation guide. Tell me how you get into a place I have been turned away from. When I was 36ft they questioned me at Pismo. I have been in spaces where it looked like there was plenty of room. For 36ft plus my jeep but they insisted I leave the jeep somewhere else. I gotta say the state parks literiture says 36ft. I like pismo st. beach and would like to go back, all the rv parks are $60.00 and up.

We have stayed at Pismo in the front section twice a year for the past five years. All of the sites are pull throughs that measure over 45 feet. I have seen 40 foot triple axle toyhaulers in there. We have never been questioned about the length of our rig. At Half Moon bay, all of the sites are 40 feet plus the overhang at the end of the site, with an extra parking pad next to the rv pad. New Brighton has many sites which can accommodate 40 foot rigs when you take into account the overhang at the rear of the campsite. Again, we have never been checked, or asked the length of our coach. Maybe I've just been lucky.

Not really accurate. Our Monaco is 40' plus we tow a Ford Edge and we regularly stay at New Brighton state beach in Capitola, Half Moon Bay state beach in Half Moon Bay and Pismo state beach in Oceano.

And what does certain road restrictions have to do with the campgrounds and the unrestricted roadways? Clearly roads built in the 60's were not meant for larger type RVs, that's what tow vehicle are for, nor was it suggested that you could driver every road in a park. I'd suggest you take another route. Planning is the key.

Depends on who you are talking about.
Had a friend who maybe look older than he really was, but he was always buying senior tickets at ski lifts.
He was 10 years below the limit, but he was OLD for all those teenagers selling tickets.
They never ask.
