Little air at bedroom vent

I spent 3 weeks in 99+ heat last year. I have a front AC unit and very little was getting back to the bedroom. During the trouble shooting I decided the "duct work" was blocked. I took a picture.

It appears there are some places the air could get out in places that I did not want. I pulled the "cover" off the roof vents and discovered that in the kitchen it was wired for a non-ducted AC unit. The one in the bedroom would accommodate a ducted AC unit. there were places that AC air could escape.

So I taped up all the roof vents and tested the air flow. It is much better.

I also taped the box at the AC unit in front to prevent the cold air from getting to the air return without getting into the MH first.
  • Had the same trouble in my toy hauler. Fully ducted system. Crummy taping job. The workers need to vacuum out the sawdust before they do the tape. Trailers are built fast and cheap.
  • Don't forget to clean the fins in the A/C unit from time to time. Not the fins up on the roof, although they also need work on occasion, but down in the lower half of the unit. The air filters help but a lot of stuff will get by and start to limit airflow.
