- crcrExplorerUnlocked, but we never leave the rig unattended when traveling. If we ever did leave it unattended, we would then lock both TT doors.

What kind of roads do you folks travel on where the camper can flex enough to worry about a door opening while driving.
I take my camper on some the roughest and nastiest dirt/gravel roads around and have never had a door open while driving.
haven't been on it for a couple of years but I-40 west of OK City was a 20-mile rumbles trip...both lanes. we keep everything locked...why take a chance. - Dog_FolksExplorer

Well that is only one man's experience.
Many others, as noted here, have had different things happen. - mowermechExplorerI have had the door come open when traveling. On a paved highway!
Therefore, usually the last thing I do before driving off is set the deadbolt so the door will not open.

I have never had a basement compartment door come open, so I rarely lock them. - toedtoesExplorer IIIMy door latch doesn't always connect. If it's not latched properly the lock won't click. So, by locking the door, I KNOW it is properly closed.
As for being locked in during an emergency, it is not like I have 20 deadbolts to undo - it's no harder than opening my car door from the inside. - rk911Explorer

When you are traveling down the road, do you leave the exterior locked or unlocked?
locked. I don't what them flying open after hitting a bump and I don't want anything easily stolen when parked in a shopping center lot. - 2oldmanExplorer IINo, I never lock the door.
- Jayco-noslideExplorerAlways lock the door to insure against it swinging open. Never lock compartments unless leaving it unattended for long period. No thefts yet in 40 years.

Hopefully to help from opening while traveling.
