May Buy a 2010 Class C with only 6000 mi

Lots of great info here. We bought ours at 18 months old and just 6,000 miles. Two years and 22,000+ miles later we have had no rude surprises. In addition to the above tips I would have the brake fluid flushed/replaced.

Add some Sea Foam to the gas tank and then run the genny hard (under a full load), for several hours, turing it off and on a few times and letting it sit for a few minutes before restarting. This would be a good way to test all of your AC appliances and might just avoid the need to rebuild the carb. If you have some hard rain coming take it out and drive it at highway speeds for an hour or so as this will be a great "leak detector".

Buying low mileage/lightly used is the hands down the best way to get a great coach for a bargain price. They are cheaper to register and insure and in some states there is no sales tax on private party sales. Savings of 20 - 50% can easily be had over the cost of the same unit new.

Purchased my 09 with 19K miles.. New tires, minor repairs and lubing.Just replaced rear TV, surround sound DVD player and in dash radio. Be careful taking this rig to a dealer as they have a financial incentive to find everything wrong.

A local responsible mechanic and a few hours time can find and tell you what needs to be done. It will be well worth what you need to pay him. TIRES!, learn how to read date codes and replace regardless of how much tread is left.

Our 2004 rig, bought new, has little over 9K miles. Major illness, family stuff and home remodeling put motorhoming on hold. We have replaced the awning fabric, fridge, water pump, converter/charger and batteries and hope to get back to frequent camping and touring. If we were to sell it, new owner would be getting a good deal, everything works properly. If you really like a low mileage used rig, you can spend a couple of hundred bucks to have it carefully checked out by a pro truck mechanic and an RV service, if seller is willing.
You are taking some risk in buying any new or used motorhome.

If it was kept in northern freezing teperatures, make sure it was winterized. If it wasn't, it could be very costly to fix plumbing!

Generator's carb is likely shot, so expect to be rebuilding that. The fresh water tank will need a thorough sanitizing with bleach. The gray and black tanks also will need a thorough rinsing since any poop in them will long have since turned to rock. Tires are likely rotted, so expect to buy seven (spare included.)

I'd pull and replace the parking brake and brake calipers and pads, just for prophylactic reasons, as well as changing all fluids (ATF, oil, brake fluid, etc.)

Not cheap, but it is normal stuff for a vehicle, and done right, it will last you a long time.

Sounds like a deal.
Normal Buyer be Beware goes.

Check all systems to make sure they work.
Most everything is "off the shelf" not many priority items.
Check Tire dates, over 10 years they have aged out.
Look for leaks and water damage.

Normal mechanical vehicle checks.

In addition to the above, you're likely to find some stuck disc brake calipers. If you have trouble with one, change them all, and the hoses connecting them to the chassis/axle. By 2009/10, the E450 got different rear calipers than we have, and they are MUCH easier to change.

sounds great even better if it was covered or inside, you gotta remember things dry out, go thru the rv and lube everything that moves, good deal, hope things go well.
