Michelin Tire Recall

I'm buying a 2012 Class C with the 16 inch tires. I just read on another thread about a recall on some of those tires.

Where do I go to check the numbers. Thx

Took my C in today to get new Michelins under the FMCA program. Had requested that all 6 tires be 2015 dated on May 11. Estimate was a week. They got only 4, then a week later 1, and on June 3 the last one. The first 2 had a 1715 DOT date. Then they rolled out the 4. Rats - 4414 DOT date. I rejected them. Dealer rep apologized and agreed with my decision. Problem - only got 8 days left to get 4 good ones. May not happen. And this is off season in Florida. Only 17,700 miles on my tires, but 7 years on the date. Dealer rep said while Michelin says 7 years is ok, they recommend only 3 in Florida.

The Dealer said it was hard to keep 225/75/16R's in stock as all the UHaul trucks use them.

If you need new Michelins plan on a couple of months lead time.

I would change dealers,I got mine the next day Got them installed 4 weeks ago, couldn't get them any newer,1015!

Took them on a 400 mile trip and they performed outstandingly. No wander no wiggle, very smooth and quiet and a tad bit better mileage.

  • A receipt no, tires have dates regardless who owns them. Recalled tires are replaced. If you can go to Americas Tire, got mine in two days, all six. In addition go to Tirerack.com they have a huge inventory. Grab them if you can and send them to your tire shop or whatever. I also had them install my air valve extenders, free. If you do it later $10 a tire. Good luck.

  • When I bought my RV last September, it had the recalled tires on it. Discount Tires confirmed they were the recalled batch and replaced all of them for no charge with no receipt from me. You might have to call around and see who has the replacements in stock. I first tried Costco but none of them around us had them in stock. It was too difficult for me to crawl around and get the codes so I just took it to Discount and they did all the dirty work.

Check the website for the dates and sizes affected - it's limited. My Michelin's are 17s and not included/
  • My 09 didn't have the numbers in question so I had America's tire mount up 6 new ones. Mine were original tires and only having 19,000 miles on them had cracks in sidewalls.

Always remember that tread depth does not determine the life of the tire, mine looked brand new but were outdated. Tires rot and crack.
  • Just my opinion but I would say no.
I have received 3 safety recall notices, they must have papered everyone. One from them, one from the MFG of RV (Fleetwood)and one from El Monte RV where I bought the Unit.

The tire dealer where I replaced my tires with LTX MS 2 told me that they would look at the dates and DOT markings,if they fell into the recall they would replace them and submit a claim to Michelin, regardless of who bought them, only that they had them on their rig.
  • Michelin L/T M/S. Dates are from Jan 2010 to Dec 2012. Just had mine replaced no charge at Americas Tire or Discount Tire same thing. They will replace them with the M/S 2's. Good tires RV rides nice.
