Model of WH in 1998 Southwind?

Tried google etc, no luck. Quick question. What is the likely brand and tank size (model if known) of the WH in a 98 Southwind? (about 32ft long?) Is it gas and electric?

I see it has two Atwood 8500 type furnaces, but you can't see the WH from the outside. Not listed on the cabinet door appliance list. Thanks.
  • Couple of pics I looked at on line for 1998 Fleetwood Southwind show exterior panel for an Atwood WH

    Model....
    COuld be just gas (G6A-7)

Could be a combo with pilot flame (GC6A-7P)
Could be a combo with electronic ignition (GC6A-7E)
Could be combo with motor aid....GCH6A-7E

    Could be 10 gal units.....GC10A-3E
    Or with motoraid GCH10A-3E

That vintage the electric/propane are completely separate functions/controls
  • My 99 Southwind Storm (Class A) has an Atwood GC6A-7E 6 gallon gas/electric water heater. AFAIK, that was the standard/stock water heater that came with the MH. For electric use, the heater has a 120V cord that must be plugged in to a separate remote outlet not provided on the motor home.

If you can open the cover panel, the ID plate is inside.

    Chum lee
  • Thanks, that is the info I need. MH is being parted out and I wanted to know if its WH would fit in another RV that needs a replacement WH.
(Haven't talked to the owner of the Southwind yet)
