Motorhome will not shut off

My 1996 Fleetwood Discovery would not shutoff. I killed all electrical power to the coach---no help. I finally disconnected the fuel line to the filter & starved the engine. Now I've got to fix it. I'm stuck in Boise Idaho on a Saturday night. Help!
  • Yikes!!! This is an extremely odd situation. Usually people on here have a hard time starting the engine. Never heard of one not stopping. I wish I could offer some help. I'm going to watch this one so I know what to do should this happen to me. Best of luck.

If you can not find the fuel solenoid:

To stop the engine with no troubleshooting, just cover the air intake with something large enough to cut off air supply. Use something like a piece of plywood, blanket, etc on the coach (not engine) side of the air cleaner. That will kill the engine.

    THEN troubleshoot it.
  • Find the fuel shutoff solenoid. Check to see if it is sticky or something is jammed in the mechanism. Normally they stick closed, but it sounds like yours is stuck open.

I had the connection between the solenoid and the rack come loose on a genset once and the engine would not shut off.
  • After you get it corrected please, let us know what caused the problem.
