Multiplex Lighting Problem

I am a real fan of the Intellitech Multiplex Lighting systems but every once in a while they can be baffling. The rope light switch in my living area originally operated like all the others. When depressed, a portion of the switch illuminating orange when you turned on the rope lights, and extinguishing when you turned them off.

A couple of weeks ago the orange light switched itself to turning off when the rope lights turned on, and on when you turned the rope lights off. Now the bedroom rope lights are doing the same thing and I want to nip this in the bud before the whole coach lighting system goes bonkers.

Anyone have any ideas about this.

  • With the help of Chris at Intellitech RV support,(419-965-3014 if you save numbers), we traced the bedroom rope light problem to a loose 12v supply wire, and the living room rope lights to a bad control module. A new module ($209) will ship tomorrow.

    Problem resolved.
  • Ivylog, I do belong to Monacoers, just thought this and IRV2 might have a broader audience of experience with Intellitech products. Could be wrong, hard to know where to turn sometimes.

A suggestion from an IRV2 member to call Mark Bayus at Intellitech actually put me in touch with another tech named Chris who has seen this before and directed me to the ground bus bar in the engine compartment (you also mentioned grounding). I will be in there today checking and remaking those grounds.

    Will post results.

wa8yxm, thanks for the offer to help sort thru the manuals. Let me try these ground points first.

I suspect you need to either:
    1: re-read the system owner's manual or
2: Give me a link to it so I can do so.

My best guess is that there is a set-up option somewhere burried in the system menu, it may be as easy as selecting from an info display/menu screen or it may be like my old Canon printer.. To make it do what I wanted I had to play a fugue on the control panel buttons (2 of them) pressing them in a specific pattern (Worked too).

Oh, My new Canon printer, Did what I wanted from the factory (print on Ink-Jet CD's) but it's also a 2013 MG, where as the old one was a 2006 Pixima.

But I would re-read the manual and see if you can simply re-set it.
(OF course they do bury those types of things rather deep in the book).

You need to join the Monacoers group on Yahop. Often it's a ground problem. Good Luck.
