My Tub Issue Rides again!

Do you all remember my bathtub that seems to have settled? Here are some pics of what I could see behind the access panel. It all looked really good to me and hubby couldn't see anything that looked like rot etc. It looks like it may have just "settled." The dark areas you see in pic with the vinyl flooring showing feels like the vinyl adhesive seeped out maybe? Its very hard.
So anyone have any ideas to "jack the tub" up? (Included a pic of the tub problem)

  • Maybe it can be shimmed up with some thin wood between the tub bottom corrugations and the subfloor plywood?
  • We just went thru this last year. You have to build up the sub floor to support the entire bottom tub, we also replaced the tub portion because it was cracking alot. Much more solid now and usable, no leaks.
  • Ok, I'll just tell you what I would do and it's not the "exact perfect way" but I think it would really work.

I'd go buy several rubber shims or PVC shims. I'd stick SEVERAL under it in multiple places. Get a solid foundation of support.

Then I would buy the expanding foam "great stuff" and spray it in all the nooks and crannies (avoiding drains and cracks). The foam expands well and is fairly solid. It may back up the shims for support especially with the expansion. Think of it like a solid platform of hard foam with many heavy supports through it (shims).

Anyway, that's what I would do. Unless you can find a very solid thick piece of rubber and cram it there underneath.

    Anyway, THINK SUPPORT.

STRABO--did yours have a glass enclosure? Ours does. I would dearly love to pull the whole shebang our and replace the tub/shower walls but I don't think I will be able to convince my Hub to do this. Is it a real big ugly job? I want it to be sturdy enough for him to use and he is about 100 lbs more than me.
