I know everyone focuses on tires, but remember, they are easy to replace. I sure wouldn't let the tires on a rig be my determining factor. You can change tires, but you can't change floorplans, transmissions, engines and the like. Navigators are great rigs, if there isn't a major problem, it sounds like a good deal. (but then again it could be the lime green twin to that other rig, or maybe hit more times than Joe Louis, you never know till you see it in person).

I agree that tires are not the most important factor but it's going to cost about $6,100 for a new set of Michelins (8) for that coach. Just something to keep in mind for negotiationg purposes.

Agree with you 100%. Just wanted to make sure the buyer realizes tires do not make the rig. Once you get several posters focusing on that single attribute, as happened in this thread, some people may put too much focus on it. At $200+K for the rig, even 8 new tires is less than 3% of the cost of the rig, and it sounds like this rig, provided it is in good shape is priced well enough that the tires wouldn't make or break the deal for me.

NADA low retail is $263,730 and average retail is $317,750. NADA Wholesale is usually about 10% below low retail, so about $236,000. You can find the actual NADA Wholesale book at a good reference library. Motor Home Specialist in Alvarado TX has a 2007 navigator at $209,999. 4 others listed on RV Trader. There is also a 2007 Monaco Executive for sale in Oklahoma City for $175,000, and one in London KY for $229,000. Do a national search on RV Trader or RV USA.

If everything checks out OK, tires are newish...sounds like a real decent price to me too! MSRP on that coach was probably close to $550,000.

I don't believe anyone gives a "wholesale" pricing...just a low and high retail. However, after looking at NADA for this unit, I found that it has several different models (floor plans) with three different engines and number of slide outs.

Typically, dealers will buy at low retail (or a little less) and then try to sell it for high retail (or a little more). This unit's low retail could be as high as 263K and as low as 257K.

So, at 215K, I would say it is a steal.

The Navigator is an excellent coach. Just about everything is standard, so if you are using NADA as a guide, don't add for anything, and use the "wholesale" or "trade-in" value as an indication of actual market value. Those figures are available in the printed version of the guide available at banks or libraries. But, a better indication of value is to go to PPL's web site and look at sold Navigators and Monaco Signatures.

In any event, you'll probably learn a lot of useful information talking to an owner of a coach rather than a salesman. So, take the drive.

Mr. Greg, for 2007, the Navigator was the top of the line for the Holiday Rambler which is similiar to the Signature Series on the Monaco line.

Of course your value should be based on the tire dates as if they are original, they could have '05 or '06 date codes. If the motorhome has been sitting for a while, you will want to check everything including the maintenance records if any.

A friend of mine has his '07 Signature with about 57,000 miles for sale on consignment for $269,998 where he purchased it in California (just looked it up, originally asking $399,000 a yr. ago). His coach has been for sale for about a year now and no takers. When he had it on ebay for a short time, it was listed at $299,000 and he only recieved low ball offers. One of the problems is that he had some custom work done while it was being built. Instead of the usual leather sofa's, it has lime green fabric with purple pillows. That is a rather easy fix but the first impression is not too good. The captains chairs are black as is the dash with wood floors. It has new Michelin tires (from last yr.) and the 600 hp pre-particulate filter Cummins.

What are they asking for the Navigator?

Greg,
I drove 800 round trip to find my dynasty and I am glad I did. It turned out to be the best decision I made while searching for a coach. Either way you will definitely learn something from the experience. I would make the trip after talking with the owner and seeing plenty of pics and copies of services performed. I found it very advantageous to buy from a private owner as I had a better feel for what the true history was on the coach and what needed to be done so there were no surprises. Worked out great for me.

Considering the potential cost of any coach you may or may not buy traveling for a hands on evaluation is worth the time, effort and cost. I did three 800 mile round trip drives when I was negociating the sale of the coach I have now. Drove it home on the third trip.
