Need sound wisdom with purchase! Please!

Hello. We are looking at a 2000 Holiday Rambler Class A that is in nice condition. Got some sugar ants but that's about the most serious thing; we can fumigate. Owner is asking for 12K. On the other hand, there is a 1997 Coachmen Santara and owner is asking for a little bit more BUT the Coachmen has a slide out and the Holiday does not. Both are in equal condition. Can anybody offer advice on what would be the best buy of the two. We are going to live in it and may travel occasionally depending on finances. Anybody have sage advice on this?
  • I have a Holiday Rambler and LOVE it so far. We just bought it this year. Its a 2005.

My last MH had no slides and that was not a big deal to us. We don't live in it and we use it as a weekend vacation unit or once in a while we go away for a week. When using it like that the no slide thing was no big deal

With that said we now have 3 slides and sure do enjoy them. So I guess what I am saying is that I can live without them but I do like having them.
  • tires are a huge chunk of money, your best thing to do is have it inspected, rule #1 be on your toes when the sales person talks ,remember they want to make a sale. they have a tough time telling the truth.
  • Food Grade Diatomaceous Earth to kill the ants use a Pest Pistol Mini Duster but wear a dust mask. Coachmen not for me.

Used coaches that old can be problematic. If your budget dictates a coach that old, then be sure to have it thoroughly inspected by an independent technician. Otherwise the cost of the coach could be the the cheapest expenditure you will have.
    Good luck on your choice.

  • which model Holiday Rambler? Can be quite a difference between the models.
  • We like the extra space from a slide. We had a TT with one and now a MH with four.

Preferences and needs vary from person to person, of course.
