New Ford engine and chassis changes

TFL Truck guys got a hold of a new class A motorhome body with the 7.3.
Shows the changes to chassis, apparently improved handling and of course, Andre had to race it against a V-10.
Thought some of those waiting for info on the new A's may find it interesting.
Class A race
  • still can't understand it different engines rear ends and one is fulled loaded like racing a car and a loaded truck. Just a stupid race with stupid people if they can't match closer then that. very close to the qld 460 just board and better cam and electric system. 460's were were gas eaters like the new one but the 460 was a strong engine near bullet proof.

Please look closer. The New 7.3 V8 is a whole new design, not even close to the old 460. I.E variable displacement oil pump, 6 bolt mains, completely redesigned heads, raised cam for shorter pushrods, the list goes on and on.

  • still a stupid race to compare to , like a full loaded house and put in the V8 and time it bet it slows down a bit.

Remember, this show is mostly for entertainment with a little bit of information thrown in. I enjoyed it.
The one piece of real info is that the V10 is history. This new 7.3 V8 is the new future for motorhome on a whole new platform, from motor to chassis.
  • They did compare a motorhome on the V10 chassis to a motorhome-shaped body on the new V8 chassis with ballast to bring it to the same weight (or so it was claimed). The new chassis was a little quicker, as would be expected from the published claims. It also apparently had demonstrably better handling due to suspension updates.

Some of the other races and comparisons were filler fluff and having fun rather than useful comparisons.
  • Chassis changes, higher COG by design to allow for builder outfitting, and the drum brake on the driveshaft were all of interest I thought. Andre wanting to race them was just him being himself.
Eliminating the need for the “cheap handling fix” adding upgraded sway bars and steering dampening all are things to interest prospective buyers , or at least I had thought they would be.

Not the chassis. The only difference in the chassis are revised springs and sway bars! I’m not impressed with what I’m seeing.
