New rig on the block

Well, we went and did it! We bought a 2014 Thor A.C.E. 30.1, and a 2013 Honda CRV to tow. Quite a change from our Tundra and Bullet rig of the last three years. We took delivery on the CRV tonight, and pick up the coach on Saturday. While we are off on our first adventure they will be installing the towing equipment on the CRV.

Thanks to all the information on current and former owners of both CRVs and A.C.E.s - the archives had a lot of information and answered most of my questions.

I'm sure I'll have a bunch more questions in the weeks to come!

Happy camping,

  • Congratulations! Now the fun begins.

We have a 2012 CRV. I really didn't want one and agreed to buy one only because it was towable 4 down and seemed the easiest thing for us to get. I have to say I love the car, and we went down in size from a Yukon. It scoots around so easily. I'm expecting many, many years of Honda quality out of it. I hope you'll love yours, too!!
  • Yes congrats, and good luck with your new toys. We bought our 2013 CRV=EX in the last part of December and we really like it. Had the bigger Honda Pilot EXL 4WD before and it also was great, but a little on the heavy side.

Our CRV-EX is a 2WD and we have not gotten no recall like MR Marks. Unless we get it later.

Just called the Honda dealer where I bought my CRV-EX, it is not on the recall list. The problem had already been solved when mine was manufactured.
  • Elizabeth, first, congrats on the new motorhome and new Honda. We are on our second Honda CR-V and just received a recall for the shift-lock. The gear shifter could possibly come out of gear without pressing the brake pedal in sub-zero temps.

I've made an appt. for ours on Monday for the recall and we are ready for our first oil change. Your new CR-V may already have the correct part as we took delivery in Dec. '12.

    Safe travels!
