New to RVing with our dogs

We are in the process of buying a Class A motorhome and plan on taking our 4 Retired Racing Greyhounds. We have 2 males (85 to 90 lbs.) and 2 females (45 to 55 lbs.). We are wondering if we will have a hard time finding a CG. We'd love to hear form everyone

Never had a problem anywhere. Travel with 4 large dogs. Rhodesian Ridgebacks

I used this website to order some biodegradable poop bags. With four dogs you may need a few extra. Doggy bags
Some RV Parks supply them but I always let the park owner know that I have my own.

For the past 9 years I have traveled with my six dogs. I always call ahead for reservations and have been refused only a few times, generally by any campground with the word "Resort" in its name that limits the number to 2, unless business is really slow and they make an exception. Most campgrounds don't mind the quantity as long as they don't bark and disturb others and are picked up after. I do a lot of KOA campgrounds because pet quantity is never a problem and I can always count on a pull thru site for the night. Plan ahead and you won't have any problem.

I agree, I do not remember any Greyhounds barking a lot. Some of those small little yippers may look like a bunny however. :B

We've never had any problem with the size restrictions. We travel with a Great Pyrenees that is well over 100 pounds and we have never been turned down at any RV park or charged extra. Since we don't travel with any kind if a schedule, we never make reservations and have never been restricted from any RV park that had a vacant space. I agree that you may run in to a few parks that restrict the number of pets but if your dogs are well behaved, that should not be a problem.
If an RV park is not full, we will usually ask for a space that is away from other campers just to make it easier for us to keep our dog's attention focused to do it's business.
Carry your own supply of bags to pick up after your dogs and you will have no problems.
Try to get your dogs used to being barked at by other small dogs. For some reason a lot of small dogs just like to bark at large dogs. Our Pyr just ignores them and the other dog's owner usually thinks it is cute while his pet goes crazy.

Commercial campgrounds may have a two dog rule. It is best to call ahead and be honest about four.

When we had Greys, getting "retired racing Greyhounds" into the conversation seemed to open doors for us. I guess the operator had some pity on them or knew the secret of just how good they are.

Just another thing to consider too is that some campgrounds allow dogs, but charge a fee for having them. Or, they let you have up to 2 and charge you for each animal over. Not saying you are not, but just be a responsible pet owner when you travel and pick up after your pet. There are so many people out there that are not.

State/National/COE......shouldn't be an issue

Public CGs
Oh Yeah!
Those that are pet friendly typically have a 2 pet limit.
Some have size limits ---have seen 25# and 40# weight limits
Some have breed restrictins

So you will HAVE to check in advance with CGs you are interested in.

Most campgrounds restrict the number of pets to two. Traveling with four large animals most likely will be a problem. To ensure a satisfactory visit, I would always call ahead and ask before making reservations. That way there's no surprises when you arrive. Kudos to you for taking on the responsibility of rescuing those fine dogs.....Dennis
