Norcold 1200LR

I have become a victim of Murphy's Law.
We are have been getting ready to leave to head South, we ususally turn on the fridge, a day or so befor we leave. We don’t have electric where we store the motorhome so the fridge if not running while parked.

The last time the fridge was on was in September, and it worked fine, today I attempted to turn it on and I get nothing. No power, the light doesn’t even come on. I checked the 12 volt fuse, checked the breaker and tested the outside electric outlets. I have power to both outlets, but none to the fridge.

I have had the recalls done over the years and during one of the recall, a small box with 5 wires was installed. After the installation, the fridge ran for a day and then quite. I called the place that did the recall and they told me to jump two wires so that I could get it running temper airily, until the unit they installed could be replaced. This was several years ago and the trick worked until I could get the unit replaced. The problem is I lost my notes and can not remember what to wires to jump. We are leaving Friday and I would like to get it running until I can get to an RV repair shop.
I don't know if this is the problem or not, but I figured I'd try it.

Anyone have any suggestions.

    Thanks Guys,

The magnet didn't do the trick, I guess I have one of the older boxes.

The power in wire is red and the power out wire is blue, I disconnected both wires, unplugged the blue wire from the fridge board and replaced it with the red wire, just like magic, I now have power.

I don't intend to run it this was, but at least I know what the problem is and can have the box replaced.

    Thanks for the help.

That's all well and good what you did but the truth is I would start making plans now to consider having the NoCold replaced with a residential one. It just isn't worth it for folks to put up with the less than acceptable, unreliable and sometimes unsafe operation.

There are four wires on the NoCold POS recall box which is up to Revision F. Only the later versions will reset with a magnet. Two of the wires are larger than the other two... they are the power in and power out (probably blue) wires. Take the other large wire and plug it in where the blue wire is connected to the control board.

Since the recall box stopped working while the refer has been turned off it's not likely to be a leak, BUT look for any yellow stuff around the flue and an ammonia smell.
  • IF the red light is on the black box, hpld a strong magnet on the upper right hand corner of the box as it is facing you. This box is the upgrade you were talking about. This might reset the box and make it work again. If it resets often you will have to take it in. The wires on mine were labeled 12v in and 12v out. But try the magnet first. You will hear a click when it resets Good luck
