Run it several miles to get it hot and then let it cool down to where you can handle it. Our diesel gets very warm. Everyone servicing it has had to let it cool a bit.
Always changed it warm. Anything that might have dropped out of suspension will go back into it and come out of the drain. Misture over winter will be in the oil or bottom of pan or filters or somewhere.
