That is the reset method. Here are a couple tips. When you turn the key, be sure the dash lights come on. After you turn the key, you have to depress the pedal quickly three times (maybe five seconds IIRC).

Have you changed the transmission fluid?

It came with Dexron iii and should be changed every two years or 25,000 miles.

I change my own and it's as easy as changing you engine oil. It has a spin on filter that should be changed too.

I switched mine to Transynd two years ago. I suggest you do the same.

When you drain it measure the amount that comes out with a bucket that has quart markings on the side and put that exact same amount back in. I will usually get 11 quarts.

After adding the fluid drive it about 25 miles and drain again and refill. That's the only way you can get a complete change.

Do NOT use a power flush. Allison says NOT to do that.

Altho not difficult, it is not as easy as changing the engine oil. There is no oil cap to remove so the fluid has to be poured down the dipstick tube. I used a length of 5/8" heater hose to extend the dipstick tube out from under the hood and then used a funnel to add the new fluid.
That is also right about changing the spin on filter. The one thing to remember is that when you remove the old filter, inside you will find a magnet that looks like a thick washer. This magnet must be removed, cleaned, and stuck to the inside of the new filter. Do not throw it away with the old filter.
After you have done that, and filled the transmission, be sure that you check the fluid level by shifting through the gears, and check it in PARK with the engine running.

Thanks, Arch I wasn't aware of that!
