? on a 25ft Winnebago roof seal job

looking at a 25 Ft 2006 Istaca ? Winnabago class c from a private owner...it has a fiberglass ? roof ( not rubber ) she just paid 400.00 to have it cleaned and they sealed around the skylite and the back seam...it appears they just poured white rubber right over the gray that was already ther...it isnt even sticking down so its usless !!!
What SHOULD have been done here to do it the correct way..there were no leaks she could see ....it looks like a typical job a scammer would do for a 75 yr old lady...I was NOT impressed

They must be different than car tires because my tires are alot older than that on my car and I have never had a problem...is it because of the weight factor ??

The MH has only 11,000 miles on it, in 7 or 8 years, unlike just about any normal car. That means a lot of sitting somewhere and on what type of surface ? That will take it's toll on the tires, more so than driving.
The first class C I bought in 1995, I got almost 50,000 miles, in just under 10 years use, on the original tires. That vehicle was used as a daily driver. It had plenty of tread left, and the tires still looked good when I replaced them, after a second blow out.

The tires LOOK mint, no dry rot etc just the date code is original...

You're looking at a 2006 MH, which could vey well be on a 2005 cab and chassis. Those tires are 7 or 8 years old and should be replaced.

I don't know about price, but planning on replacing the other four tires would be a good idea.

  • I would ASSUME IF it needed to be resealed the old should have been removed FORST...Any idea what a good price for this would be..?? It has the V10 and 11k miles...new front tires all else in VERY nice shape...
I think its a 25ft no slide...she bought it brand new
  • Winnebago uses a flowable silicone around the skylight and back cap roof seam. Nothing will stick to silicone, not even new silicone. I doubt that there was any problem with the original sealant unless it was compromised by the cleaning folks using a pressure washer on it. The flowable silicone that Winnebago uses seems to be far superior to the junk sold at all the home stores.
