Onan 2800 micro lite remote start won't work

I bought a 1994 Coachmen Catalina 220rk 39,551 miles. What I can't get to work is the inside remote start switch for the Onan 2800 micro lite generator with 220 hours on it. It starts outside. The inside control panel lights up and hour meter runs. I can stop it from inside just won't start. The person I bought it from said it needed a box of some kind.
Any ideas?

agree w/Dusty. Older ONAN had a Molex Connector for Remote into GenSet. Maybe intermittent. Same with Inside Panel end. Or the Switch.
Best to Notify Moderator and ask this to be moved to Tech Issues. Then go there and post the full Model Number and Serial Number. Last character of Model is Spec Code and very critical in ONAN work. If somebody doesn't link you to a Service Manual there, go to smokstak.com and repeat the Model/Serial/Spec in the ONAN section. The guys there can hook you up.

I've never worked on one, but I would check the inside start button first. I would think that both inside and outside buttons would activate the same circuit on the circuit board, therefore I would not be in a hurry to change the board.

I think it may have a bad control board or dirty contacts at the control board. I have been reading around and others have had the same problem. I put a new deep cycle battery in the motor home and the generator cranks fine at generator. It did take a little while for the fuel to get to the carburetor. What was weird was it cranked from inside when I first got it home a few times then quit. The person I bought it from said it stopped starting from the remote inside a few years back and they took it to the dealer and they wanted to replace the control board. They wanted about $450.00 to fix it he told me.
I may wait until warm weather and drop it down and clean the contacts at the control board. Also I cant find a wiring diagram. I have all the paperwork to the motor home. It was bought in Anchorage, Alaska and drove back to Ohio. I know where about 8,000 miles of that 39,500 miles was came from.
Thanks for the help, Andy

Mine does not always start from the panel inside the rig if generator has not been run recently. If I run the chassis engine and then hit the inside generator start button, the genset will usually start probably because the generator is connected to the engine starting battery and it is getting 14+volts from the engine's alternator I suspect that there is a voltage drop in the wiring from the panel to the starting battery and RV generator's starter. Hope somebody with knowledge of this chimes in on what to do about it.
