Onan Genny - Help - Looking for suggestions!

Ours has a similar problem, so I did some youtubing on it. Turns out that the folks I watched seem to believe that the Onans have an issue with evaporating gas turning to varnish in the carburetor, causing uneven running and/or failure to start. One recommendation was to use SeaFoam, as described in the video. (It's a self-serving video produced by SeaFoam about the Onan.)

Ok, carburated motors do have that issue, but perhaps it's something more than the usual. My carburated mowers have always started, as has my trusty MGB, even after months of storage. But perhaps the Onan's carburator is somehow more susceptible to evaporating petrol.

Ours failed to start about a week ago at elevation (7K+). Probably just enough to combine with the messy carburator to cause the issue. Minutes ago -- and now at a few thousand feet lower in elevation (just under 5K) -- it started ok, but runs somewhat rough. As described in SeaFoam's video.

A SHORT shot of starter fluid to the carb intake. If it starts, or tries to, then it is probably fuel related. As a previous contributor pointed out, probably drop the fuel bowl, clean it out and shoot some carb cleaner through the passages.

Everything is so tight in the genny compartment tough to tell what is what.
Figured I'd try changing the plugs, but no idea how I'd get the back one out.
Yikes!-Do they pull the whole genny out of the MH to work on them?

Anyone point me to where Starter and Fuel pump would be located?

I'd suggest getting onto YouTube and searching for info. Use a full size screen so that you can see what's what.

Depending on the model and year Onan some, when you push the stop button on the generator itself, it will turn on the pump and prime the carb. Also you may want to disconnect the external Start/Stop switch connections and try starting directly from the generator. A short on the wiring will send a Stop signal to the generator.
