Ordered new class C 28ft, campsite length issues???

I'm fairly sure you can back over the backstop log without a problem. Some sites may have a tree in your way. We had site 40 at upper pines with our 24-footer and there was a tree but plenty of length for the RV. We saw plenty of Class A up there. I believe the NP camping maps label the length available.

I have a 30' Bounder and got it into a 24' max site in Ventura. I pulled into the site, and the neighbor was watching. I got out, looked at the wheelbase, it looked like it would fit, so I turned it around.

The jacks just hit the parking bumper, so I put down 2X10 that are 12" long, and that lifted the rear enough to clear the jacks over the parking bumper. Backed up until the tires touch the bumper, and it fit! The rear jacks where just on the pavement.

Neighbor was walking her dog, and commented to us "I don't know how you folded that in half, and got it to fit! I thought it would never fit when you pulled in forwards! "

With time, you will get used to parking the RV in many places.

Many places have a 30-foot cutoff. We register our 31 as 29 and have never had a problem with site size. I've seen very few places with cutoff below 30-foot, except part of the campgrounds in Denali National Park where it's more like the low 20-s. I think you'll be fine.

I don't know about California, but on the Great Plains, a 28-foot RV site is still small, and if you don't need hookups, you can usually back into the parking spot at a tent site, because if you can get the rear overhang off the edge of the lot, a 28-30 foot C is no longer than a crew cab pickup.

We have a 30' minnie and never had a problem fitting. I would not worry about it. Enjoy it and life. My minnie is 13 years old and still going strong.

Our is listed as a 31' model but it's actuall 32'7". We always say 33'......but if staying in the type of parks you mentioned, we will look at pictures of the sites and make sure there is nothing being the pasd or stops that will prevent the motorhome from backing up. You also need to look at the height of the stops or curb. In the below picture is our motorhome at a park on the B,lue ridge parkway. As you can see it is extending over the curb. WE might of fit in the spacewithout going over the curb, but we would of been right at the narrow road and did not want that. Use the internet and it's pictures. It's almost a necessity.

The rig in my signature is a 26Q but it is 28 ft long. I have not had any problems getting into smaller sites because of the over hang on the rear,there always has been a bit of wiggle room at all the sites I have been in. That picture shows me in a listed 26 ft spot with plenty of room.

If in doubt I will use This site or This site to get a view of where I am going if at all possible.

I have 24' camp mostly in CA. public campgrounds and off the top of my head can't think of any sites I couldn't have got a few feet more in. Maybe maneuvering wouldn't have been as easy. I do remember on site in Umpqua Lighthouse state park I fit with just a foot or so breathing room. Last one available too. But overall I don't think it is night and day.

Thanks for all the replies. We are spoiled with our 22ft Minnie and being able to go almost anywhere. The new one being 6 feet longer and having a 202" wheel base vs a 138" will surely have new challenges. Like backing into a campsite and having to look for low branches and trees where the slide-out will go. But there are backup and side cameras and levelers to make it easier to get in and setup.

I am kind of concerned about the turn on the new MH. It's got a 202" wheel base and overall length of 28'1'', that's a 60% ratio. Guess that's real good. But what about making tight sharp turns in campgrounds and for backing into sites. Sometimes there isn't much maneuvering room with TT and Fivers parking their TV parallel to the road. Seen lots of scraped trees in North Pines CG in Yosemite too.
