plastic cover for step mechanism

My step mechanism has a black plastic cover. It was held in place by 4 bolts. The plastic box is cracked where the 4 bolts go and can't stay in place. Any Idea where I might be able to find new cover.

My coach is an 02 Safari / Sahara DP. 38 ft.

  • I have fixed it. Used 2 strips of heavy plastic and bolted that in aver the step box lip that had the broken sections. To reinforce that I found some long and wide zip ties. Ran he zip tie around the box on both sides. Now it is nice and secure. The only purpose of this box is as a dustcover.
  • The location where the bolt passed chipped out in all 4 spots there is no plastic to mend. I my add new plastic to both sides. I think if I can find strong plastic I could sandwich it and make it work.
  • Thanks for the tips. Keep them coming. Will be searching for a number on it tonight after work.
  • I think I'd take it off and epoxy the cracks to hold it while you are looking for a new one.
  • If no helpful answers come along...See if you can see any logo or company name, then google that name up. Might be on underneath side or hidden from view.
  • Have you got a mfgr for the steps (any names or tags on them?)....or even contacting the coach mfgr would help.
Some coach mfgrs (such as Winnebago) have extensive parts availability.

If you can't find anything, can you take the box off and bring it to a welding shop, and have them make one out of sheet metal? Not sure what it would cost, but if all else fails, it would give you a basically indestructible cover:)

    Good luck with your search.
