Power Question to my Class A Thor Windsport

I just got my RV out of storage. I plugged it in to my home outlet to charge the batteries. I converted with adapters from 15 to 30 to 50 amp just to get the charge going. My surge protected made the usual clunking noise and wouldn't allow any power to the coach. The surge protector is the Surge Guard Model number 3560 and was installed by my dealer and has worked fine in the past. I tried again and got power to come on but the red caution light on my surge protector continues to blink. I have always done this when getting home from a trip to keep the batteries charged.

Any ideas on what to do is appreciated.
  • I changed the dog bone and it the caution light is gone now so I think I am good. Thanks to all who replied.

What does the surge guard display show?
SPedirically voltage and any error codes

Page 2.. Is your coverter hard wired or plug in (mine is plug in) if it is Plug in....

Well I have unplugged it and fed it direct to keep batteries up. You will need an adapter for even that but easy to make.,
  • Lines 1 and 2 start out as red and then turn to green showing there is power going in to the coach. The caution light continues to blink indicating there is a problem. The microwave in the coach starts blinking showing power. I have checked all my cord connections and they seem to be fine. I’m hearing the clunk but the red caution light continues to blink. It’s driving me nuts because I have done this so many times before without any problems.
  • Your batteries may be a LOT lower now than after a normal "trip" and the charger might be trying to draw a LOT more power; maybe too much for a 15 amp circuit.

If you got instructions with the Surge Guard, you should look at it to see what the blinking light is trying to tell you.
  • Did you remember to turn off EVERYTHING 120V in the coach? If you are plugged into a standard 15 amp home outlet you could easily drop the voltage below acceptable units even before the home breaker trips. You should have 2 red lights lit plus the 1 red light blinking if the wiring is correct between the house and RV. After 126 seconds the blinking light should go out, the other 2 lights remain solid and you should hear the "klunk" and you would have power.
Which part of this scenario is missing?
  • Since you used all of the adapters, I have to assume that you are plugged in to a 15 amp standard outlet at your home. I also assume that it is a GFI outlet that is not tripping. Read this troubleshooting guide and you will see what it says about your blinking red light. Red light
