Question About Shock(s) Replacement

Rookie Rver :C here!

I've only put about 11k - 12k on motor home since I've changed shocks over 11 years ago. It sits alot. Is there a need to change the shocks? This year I'll be using it a lot......
  • What brand of shocks do you have? Bilsteins and Konis are both guaranteed for life to the original owner. Age alone does not cause a shock to go bad but if the seals have dried up and any oil has leaked from them, they need to be replaced. Also if they are gas charged and the gas has leaked out, they need to be replaced.
How does the coach drive? Does it bounce up and down more than it used to?
You can pull each shock from the coach and check them for leaks, etc and then replace if necessary.
  • If it bounces more than once after hitting a bump, you might need to change the shocks.

If they are leaking oil, you might need to change the shocks.
