Radio/Camera Dead

I started my 2013 Four Winds 28Z this morning to take it in for the Michelin tire safety recall and the radio & camera are dead. I checked all for of the E-450 fuses that say either radio or camera and theyโ€™re all good. Everything worked fine two weeks aga. ????

Any suggestions?

Turns out that it's not rocket science. There are no special trim removal tools, etc., just trap the plastic cover that extends from left of the steering wheel to right of the radio and pull. The individual clips will pop out and give limited access. The auxiliary 12vdc and cigarette lighter have to be disconnected to get any use access to the radio. This radio is mounted using 4 9/32 bolts.

Anyway, I was sure it was the 10 amp fuse on the back of the radio and it WAS NOT. Fuse is good. I rechecked and tightened all of the connections while I was there and put the radio back in the dash AND IT'S WORKING. Apparently one of the connections, probably the main plug, was loose.

Both radio and rear camera are working now.

Interesting. A similar thing happened a few years ago in my FourWinds radio/monitor combo and the fix was the same. Something was just loose. It's been working fine ever since. Glad you got it figured out.

Aubreym: Thanks a million for your post regarding how to get the DVD player out of my Four Winds to change the fuse. I had to imprevise with different tools but it worked. You saved me frustration and $$$$. I'd already wasted hours trying to do the impossible. This forum is awesome. I normally use RVforum.net. Couldn't find help there so I googled and found you on this forum. Please don't tire of sharing your knowledge.

Glad to hear that after all that it's at least working again..Ghosts in the machine mystery..lol

I was hesitant to suggest anything about dash panel removal, as there is always a chance that rather than popping off, the clips can snap off completely.. Don't ask how I know..lol

If the camera monitor was tapped into to the radio's power source, perhaps an inline fuse was used, in addition to the main fuse box? Any way to check under the dash for that possibility? That could explain why they are both out.

I found a manual and there is a 10A fuse on the back of the radio. I'm guessing that's the problem.

Right now my problem is how to get the radio out of the dash. There's no access under the dash in a Ford E-450 and it's not apparent, at least to me, how to remove the radio. I'm sure that there's a bezel that must come off but I can't figure out how to remove it.

Anybody know how to remove a Pioneer AVH-P1400DVD from a E-450?

Thanks.

Did you turn on the battery disconnect? I it was in storage with out disconnect turned on the radio would not work.

No. It hasn't been in storage and has been on shore power since I last drove it, two weeks ago.

Sorry, I missed this part.

You're probably right but I'm trying to postpone crawling under the dash for as long as I can. If there's an inline fuse that's where it would be but I'd to know for sure first.

The documentation on the radio is useless!

Odd that they would both be dead? Are they in some way connected?

Yes. The radio is a Pioneer Pandora, which is "Navigation Ready" and they share the display.
