A long time vendor of LEDs (longest in business from what I have seen) is where I bought all my LEDs.

I bought mine from them back in 2009, still going strong.

Also for those who don't want to convert, Thin Lite sells LED versions of many of their fluorescent fixtures, a bolt in replacement. In the case of my recessed 15" fixtures, the LED fixtures have a variable brightness feature-and according to Thinlite are brighter than the fluorescents. OTOH while the LEDs are likely bit more efficient, and better at directing the light downward, the fluorescents are certainly not inefficient. I would have changed them a long time ago if they were. Also fluorescent light quality is nearly up to par with LED if you select the right 800 series lamps.

Also Thin Lite LED can be specified in several color temps including 3000K. You may need to contact dealer and special order. Default is 4000K (cool white).

Thanks Ron, we have one over our kitchen sink and was wondering what to do there.

I liked the idea of reusing the original florescent fixtures for the sake of the wiring, mounting holes, & imprints on the ceiling fabric. Also no additional holes in the cabinetry. Our rig had 9 florescent fixtures supplying interior lighting. It was a project I enjoyed doing over the winter and will always appreciate the results.

We converted to LED 3 years ago. No regrets at all. We were constantly burning out the halogen ceiling lights (which also kicked out a massive amount of heat). One of the best mods I've done. I swapped out almost everything inside (except two unused reading lamps) and several of the exterior ones (porch, bins, steps). The LEDS that replaced the ceiling halogens are indistinguishable in color and intensity from the originals.

For people with 2 bulb florescent light fixtures, you might be interested in how I converted ours to LED HERE. A direct LED conversion costs only $1.33 per fixture. I added night light features into each fixture which increased the cost to $3.50 per fixture.

That's what I ended up doing. I figure they were cheap enough if we don't like them, we can always pull them out and try another type. Or will have spares if a couple **** out.

I had 23 bulbs in the interior alone. I just typed the bulb number and led in amazon search and pick out some warm white ones. Only slightly whiter than incandescent bulbs I was replacing and about the same brightness. Quality has been good so far, $20/10 bulbs

Another vote of confidence for the folks at M4. I replaced all the incandescent bulbs. I called rather than work through the web page. I told the salesman which fixtures the bulbs were going into and what I wanted to use the bulb for. For example on the exterior light the fixture is covered with a yellow lens. He suggested a bright white bulb. On the room lights I got a softer light with a color tone like that of an incandescent bulb, over the stove a bright white light. Bathroom shaving light bright but a little like soft white like the old bulbs and so on. I was amazed at how little power these use. The wife, who likes to leave the lights on until bed really likes the switch.
