Hey there warcraft junkie. Doing the same exact thing right now. I haven't had much time to figure out how to post pictures here yet so..... maybe I'll get some time this afternoon since someone else is doing it maybe could use a reference. Mine was constructed just like yours. Here's what I did: I took 3/4 inch tongue and groove and glued them together then glued a piece of 1/4 over that flip flopping the joints like you talked about. Honestly, once I got it put up in there and screwed in..... that this is like a rock! Gluing the fillon on the outside and the 1/4 on top really made it sturdy. I just got off work and will sleep a few hours and then my daughter has cheer practice after school so no promises on the pictures today. I didnt really take that many, but maybe would help a little. DaHose had an awesome blog that he posted and great pictures when I talked about my rebuild... it is a page or so back if you want to find it and check his out. Great pictures and thorough walk through! All I have left to do is put trim up and im done! Took me roughly 2 weeks working on it probably 4 or 5 days total. The hardest part for me was getting the filon back around the nose cone alone. First I had fast drying cement that dried too fast and then the next time, when I got the right contact cement, I accidentally stuck it crooked and had a huge hump in the middle so I had to use a puttt knife, hammer, box knife, and a lot of patience to gently pry it back loose. I ended up ripping it about an inch but it was right by the trim that meets the side to the bottom of bunk so I just caulked it good.
