Do not wax over RMP. I inadvertently used a wash/wax product when I thought it was just a wash. The wax turned gray and started to flake and looked terrible. I thought it was the RMP but when I got it off using 0000 steel wool the RMP underneath was fine. I think that RMP is so slick that the wax doesn't adhere well and starts to peel.
So, do you think the "Wash/Wax" products would not work on the RMP application.. I did my fiberglass roof with three coats and am very happy so far. - C-Leigh_RacingExplorerHeres what I want to know, has anyone of us got an A class RV that we never have to do anything to it, even if you bought in brand new ??.
Neil - bob_b1ExplorerIt is not a perfect product. It will flake and crack in some spots, but it so much more effective than anything else that I've used on my old motorhome. I put on 4 coats and then skipped a year. I cleaned all the old stuff off and did it all over again. I'm happy with price and the results.
- RVUSAExplorerSo my zep is yellowing, I noticed it today. I will have to strip it and maybe I'll just shoot a coat of urathane and be done with it. They may not have the ultra violet protection in it that red max had. (The rv I gave my son is still glowing nicely with redmax, it's 2.5 years old)
I put the zep on last spring and it's only sat in Illinois for the summer, you know verses sitting in phoenix so it didnt really get hammered from the sun, but yellow it is. - fprestoExplorerDo not wax over RMP. - hersheyExplorerFunny how some get really great results and others get failing results.
I'm perfectly happy with my application, over 2 years, nearly 3, and I did redo the front cap above the windshield and my entry door is flaking and peeling, need to remove and reapply. But small task compared to rewaxing the entire MH. I assume that agressive bug removal on the cap and poor preparation of the door caused their failure. - BumpyroadExplorer

I guess you didn't read the previous post. his experience is exactly why I got scared and backed off from using it.

- larry_barnhartExplorerI will tell my experience of red max pro #3. I know nobody did any better of the preparation for doing the red max as I did 3 summers ago. Awesome shine and I was very proud of the result. Next summer I applied 3 more applications just for fun. This spring after getting home from the winter I noticed some weird signs and a few days later it was the start of flaking on a 6x6 ft. I stripped that area and it was no easy job. As we left for the winter more flaking and it is still coming off only on the passenger side. Now I have a job for next spring. Poli glo will be next. Waxing an rv 2 to 3 times a year is not much fun either.
chevman - ferndaleflyerExplorer IIII did mine with red max 2 1/2 years ago and it still shines. I will do it once more next spring as I still have a gallon of Red Max that hasn't been opened.....I am to poor and to lazy to do anything else to a 40ft DP.
Neil we have people where I am in NC tearing down perfectly good empty houses to avoid paying for water, trash, and taxes on them----you know they want to tax our motor homes all they can.
