restoring 1987 holaday Rambler

I have purchased a 1987 Motor home and am fixing it up as money is available. I have replaced the passenger side brake line and caliper and now have three wheels that lock up when you stomp on the breaks. This is much better then the one or two that were working on the harrowing drive home after the purchase.
The air pumps are being removed at this time as the driver side one is locked up. The passenger side one seems to be working, but there is a hole in the part mounted on the header that is causing a little ticking sound. The header parts will be welded up at a later date when I can bribe my people with a appropriate reward.
I have changed the passenger side spark plugs, the old ones had a gap of around 80 to 85 thousand when I took them out. They did have a nice tan color. The driver side plugs will be replaced next, along with the cap and rotor.
The front air bags are holding pressure, and the front suspension has been greased with new grease. It has some sort of stabilizer made from mounting two large springs on the front and rear of the lower control arm.
I will be asking some ???? when I get to the parts I don't under stand.

I started to take apart the landing, the part where you step as you come in the door, and first step. It was made with beaver fart I believe.
This is what was there when I pulled the first piece of carpet up.

If you look you can see four rusty spots, those are the bolts that are holding what's left of the electric steps up.

Yes, I purchased 2. They had fifty or so in a box they grabbed mine out of.

This is what the new style cap looks like.

Auto Zone, Discount Auto, and PEP Boys near me were no help, I went to the NAPA store is KISSIMMEE FL. the guy there told me it was a Dextor axile cap, he didn't have one in my size. he did send me to a trailer place where I found one.

I wanted to check the tag axile breaks, before I went to Colt Creek State park next month. I took the bearing cap off,

the cap was brittle and broke when I was removing it,here is a top and side view of the old cap

Soo, it's not dead yet. I used it three times last year. Now it's time for tires. 8R19.5 is the size. it seems the one place near me has some Brigstone R187 tires that are not dated old for 340.00 each. From what i see that's a fair price. is the tire any good, I only drove it 500 miles last year, just to some local stuff around Orlando.

I did not think it had a pump in the tank, until I too the tank off as there was a fuel problem, It has a holly Carb on the 454 Chevy motor right now. When I first got it, it had a pump on the motor, and a dinky pump about halve way up the line, and a spread boar rodjestor carb. Not sure how it ever really worked at all when I took it apart and saw what was there. The generator works off of the return line on mine, and has a dinky pump by the unit.
They went to fuel injection the year after mine I am guessing. I have a guy I know from Bartow FL. that has one that was mad about six months after min he says. it has fuel injection

I am curious. On your fuel tank, the 3 lines are already accounted for.

Mine has no fuel pump in the tank as it is a carb version, and not fuel injected.

The fuel pump is mounted on the engine, and has a return line toj the tank.

My tank also has a line that used to go to the generator, and the end of the tube was not on the bottom, but up about 1.5 inches or so, so the generator could not drain the tank, and then the moho would have no gas to start.

How is your generator fueled?
If you want to do something, you will find a way.
If you don't, you will find an excuse.

You add some fittings, and a couple of screws and you have this product.

You get these hoses, where I plan to mount the new bypass style regulator.

if you take this stuff to some of the hoses that were replaced before.....

I took the old pump off. I have replaced it with a gas line rated hose. I am planning to use a pump mounted some place other then in the tank. the metal line that runs next to the rubber line is the return line. there is a cone on the top that has a line that ran to the evaporation control unit which is no longer in use on the version.

Always use a sealant on a NPT thread fitting.

I am going to move the regulator to the front of the thing. this is to replace the regulator, the 5/16 goes to the fuel pump hose that I cut the fitting off.
The 1/2 goes to the lines running down the side of the frame to the front. This hose bib was obtained by removing it from the old original regulator, I cleaned it with a wire brush on a Dremil tool.
The plugged off part is for use if I need another line later. If I ever get another generator that just sits outside of the camper, I plan on running a line from this port to the generator. That way I don't have to get up in the middle of the night, because it runs out of gas.
