A diesel fire would have been in the rear. That seems far more centered.
Just terrible no matter what the cause. - usersmanualExplorer

the fuel tank just so u know in a diesel pusher is in the front.fuel lines run from front to rear and back again.(below the driver passenger area) generator and fuel lines run up front also - msmith1199Explorer IILooks like any other motorhome fire. It has been made worse by the wind rather than by diesel fuel. I don't the fuel is on fire at all. And yes the diesel tank is forward in most DP's.
- I did an internet search and found a narrative but no picture, so I can't be sure it's the same one. But all occupants were able to get out and it said they also got the trailer with their toad disconnected. It looks like in the video there is a car trailer to the back of the coach. If it's the same one, the owner said it started after a blowout to the front passenger side tire I believe. I think the reporter was a little off with his $60,000 estimate for damage to that Newmar, however.
Dale - WestenthalExplorerIt looks to me like the cause could either be from a blow out or a ruptured fuel line in the generator compartment. It was a 2006 Newmar Dutch Star.
- Kayteg1Explorer IIFuel usually burns cleaner and most often comes with a "BANG"
That looks like fiberglass and frame materials smoldering.
Whatever material they used to build the coach.
The biggest flame at the time seem to be from awning. - happycamper002ExplorerThe guy must have been running his AC with his inverter. LOL!!!
Can't keep those overheated heatsink cool enough which the guy expected that cooling can be derived from his AC. lol. - Bruce_BrownModerator

Good point on the tank location. Having owned DPs for 13 years now I sure know where the tank is, I never gave the tank itself being the fuel source a thought.
Terrible fire regardless. - TucsonJimExplorer IIWhen our truck and fifth wheel burned up last month, I was surprised by the intensity of the flames in the fifth wheel. The picture below is from the fire department that put it out. By this time, the truck was pretty much gone, and the fire had moved to the fiver. You can see how hot this thing was burning even without the propane tanks igniting in the fire.
