Roanoke Camping World & New Winnobago Issues

I Purchased at Camping World, Roanoke, VA a New Winnobago 30T late April 2015. During trip from VA to WA State & back I had the following problems: Floor had imperfections & awning would not extend/retract properly. C.World aware & promised to fix upon my return. Missing insulation between engine & cab. Repaired in Little Rock, AK. Had trouble retracting two of 3 slideouts. Bathroom LED failed, then four more failed before getting back home. Spokane, WA, had to hire electrician to get one slideout to retract. Auto levelers failed to extend properly. Very difficult to see dash liters during bright sunshine. Slideouts rattle so can't talk. I Cancelled 3 weeks of vac & returned to Roanoke C.World for warranty repairs. C.World manager promised with handshake to "Take care of me" & get me on road soon. Gave me impression I could exchange mine for a 2016 Vista 27LX. They kept mine from Aug 20 to Jan 18, 2016 trying to get everything repaired. I checked on it weekly & they had continued issues getting the repairs done. Kevin Thomas, manager of Roanoke camping World offered me $88K for my $132K Vista with no discount on 27LX Vista! NOT AN EXCHANGE! Feb 2016, took "repaired" Vista to Florida. Wipers failed & I spent 1 week of Vac getting them fixed. I wrote head of Winnobago & Camping World and received no written response! Contacted better business bureaus & Richmond VA customer bureau concerning both camping world & Winnobago & they have no enforcement powers. I'm left with paying for my motor home but unable to use it for six months with no compensation. C.World would not furnish me with replacement RV. VA lemon law specifically excludes the "living quarters" of a motor home. Since I was refused an "exchange MH" as initially promised, I asked for a full refund of my 30T Winnobago purchase which they also refused. I am 71, have type 2 diabetes, retired with limited resources--most retired money invested in the New SUPPOSEDLY RELIABLE WINNEBAGO! I checked, but can't afford lawyer. Suggestions?

Could be that the guy is out of ressource and trying to find an answer. Could be someone not used to internet and never used a forum to find answers.

Anyway, a new MH should not have all these problems. A MH might be complex, but Winnebago is making MH for how many years now? There is no excuse to have so many problems in one unit, actually, there is no excuse to have problems after a MH comes out of factory period.

People are too tolerant towards MH builders. Many post mention that it is nice to buy a used MH because "they have fixed all the problems", even the high end ones, like it is normal to have problems, come on.

Quality control is probably not their priority since people are forgiving too easily and there is no out of country competition. On top, it is acknowledge to be the norm that "All MH have problems' as they come out of factory. I would like to see Europe's or even china selling in USA and see how they do, just like when Japan took over selling better build cars in America.

isn't camping world and good scam the same thing? And isn't this forum a good scam deal. I don't really care because I don't really care for either, but just wondering

I have to agree with "Effy" on this one. This is one of those hit and run smear campaigns. He's pissed off, so he's probably leaving nasty messages wherever he can.

I'm not a big fan of Camping World, but that doesn't make them all bad and some people get good deals and good work done there. What I'll never understand is someone leaving their coach somewhere for five months, like the OP did, and then complain about it. The few times my coach needed repair that I couldn't do, I made an appointment and made them stick to their time frame. If they can't get it done, I take it home.

Personally, anyone who leaves their coach at a dealer for more than a few weeks without taking action, gets what they deserve. I understand back ordered parts, but not five months, not even two months.

First stop going to Camping World. They are not your friend. Second call Winnebago (800-537-1885). You don't need to get into details just that you are not satisfied with the level of service your local repair center has provided and you would like to try someone else. Be nice with who ever receives your call. It's the honey - vinegar thing. The problems listed in the initial post, though appearing bad, are fixable but Camping World failed miserably.

I just wonder why you'd travel from Washington State to Virginia to buy a camper to begin with, and then travel all the way back for service? :h

I know for certain there is at least one other Camping World closer to his home base.

Either way, I hope the issues get settled. No matter what the brand it really stinks when they're broken.

I live in Roanoke and have had service "attempted" at CW in Roanoke. They are horrible and that might be an understatement. 2 years ago they laid off all the managers and cleaned house. I don't think it made any difference. Their reputation is terrible. I believe the OP is having the issues he's mentioned.

Could be a troll but it sounds typical of treatment received by us at Camping World of Madison, WI. My advice to the op would be to contact the manufacturer and let them know what's going on. When we had the same kind of problem we contacted Thor and they had us take our motorhome to any dealer we wanted to have repairs made. What Camping World couldn't fix in 5 months of having our unit, a local dealer corrected all of our issues in less than 2 weeks. Then forget about Camping World and take your business to someone that cares about their customers.

Yeah, we went through this last month and as it turns out I was right. A blast and never returned. Profile not completed, all the tell tale signs of a troll. But like I said, we'll see. I hope I am wrong.

Perhaps if they made some fields on the profile page mandatory, like name for instance it might curb some of this.

Always have pretty much heard great things from Winnie owners. Also, pretty good feedback about camping world. Perhaps more isolated than not???
4 whopping cylinders on Toyota RV's. Talk about great getting good MPG. Also I have a very light foot on the pedal. I followed some MPG advice on Livingpress.com and I now get 22 MPG! Not bad for a home on wheels.

I agree - work with Winnebago.

Of the issues that were fixed - sounds like you haven't had 2nd problems?

These machines are complex. What you're going through isn't unusual (unfortunately). CW isn't a highly recommended place for repairs.

Lived in Roanoke for many years and tried the CW store there once to get a new manual awning installed on a motorhome. Pretty simple thing but they absolutely were incompetent in every respect. Others in area had same experience.

Sorry for your issues but all the manufacturers have quality issues since they are more interested in getting them out the door than getting them right. I would not go near CW but would plan to take the coach to the Winnebago factory to get things fixed.

New member, first post, issues started a year ago but just now decides to create an account and blast Winnie and CW. Curious to see how this one goes. Smells like a troll. Maybe not, but these posts occur on here about once a month and nothing ever happens with them.
