RV inspection in BC Canada

Hello guys,

I am close to getting a RV in fraser way abbotsford. Trying to get a inspection done but they are charging me to for hiring a driver to drive down to my mechanic $100-150 depending on the length of time. is this normal for them to charge me this fee? Thanks
  • Gascap...you really want an RV tech to do the inspection. I like Kal Tire, but as far as I know they only do the mechanical, NOT an RV house inspection. They'll have checked the brakes, lights and so on. They won't have done a pressure test to see if there a water leak from the roof? How about the appliances...do they all work? Kal doesn't do that stuff.

As far as paying someone to drive it over..there are lots of RV lots in the area. Call to arrange the testing and see if they'll go fetch it, but still, expect to pay for someone's time, yes.

they are a reputable RV dealer but I thought it is always good to have an independent inspection. They say their RVs go through Kal tires for inspection. we already worked a price but he is just mentioning inspection driver fee now.

Insurances can be real sticky about who/when/how things are covered.

Might be able to negotiate a deal........will pay IF you don't buy RV due to results of inspection. BUT they waive drivers fee if you buy after inspection

Fraserway RV is member of the RVDA of Canada Pre-Owned Certification Program......doesn't this RV have that certification sticker?

  • If they are having to pay someone to transport your intended purchase to your mechanic, passing the cost on to you would be reasonable. Of course that is subject to what their markup might be. Can you inspector go to the RV? If so you will likely pay for the inspectors travel time at his normal/shop rate. Both are operating a business with the intent of a profit.
