It depends on the type of sleeper you are as you said yourself. I prefer soft mattresses, they keep me relaxed on the road. I have a Tempurpedic at home and I am looking to get something similar to that for my RV. Maybe try the Brentwood 12" HD Memory Foam Special RV Replacement Mattress, its in the link above, comments on Amazon is its on the soft side, I went with the Dynasty because it was listed on the firm side..
