RV park close to Seattle/Pike market?

Hey good folks,
My wife and I want to be tourists:) in the Pike Market area in Seattle but the hotels are too expensive. Can you recommend any RV parks as close as feasible to Pike Market? We have a '34 motorhome.

I'm an Elk so that lodge sounds like a good idea.

I also like dennis1's idea for staying at the KOA in Kent and taking the Metro as that's a great way to sight see.

The Elk's lodge is great. It has 7 large full hookup spots. It's the ONLY place near Seattle. In the past we stayed at the KOA south of Seattle as others mentioned, but you need a toad. There is another place east of Seattle that is like a parking lot, but wasn't bad after we stayed there.

Are an Elks member? there's a nice Elks lodge with a campground in Bremerton, from there is a nice ferry ride right to downtown Seattle, no need for a car.

I failed to mention Manchester State Park, it's on the Olympic Peninsula. It's an old WWII submarine camp where the subs loaded torpedos and took on fuel. It also has a old cannon ambush placement site. The Feds turned it over to the State to use as a park after WWII. It has very tall fir and cedar trees all around the campground, lots of wildlife, saltwater beaches 1/2 way around it with great views of downtown Seattle and Mt. Rainier. About 5 to 7 miles down the road on Beach Drive, across the street from the Veterans Home (Retsil) in Port Orchard there's a park and ride where you can park your car, and take a foot ferry to the Bremerton Ferry dock it's across Sinclair Inlet (it's part of the Bremerton Transit System) The Bremerton Ferry sails across Puget Sound docks in downtown Seattle in about 45 minutes. It's about a 5 block walk to the Pike Place Market. You can see the back of the market from the ferry dock and the market has an elevator that takes you up to the market from the waterfront.

you have some pretty good suggestions here...you are pretty screwed though for anything close to Seattle. I wish I had some land near there where I could offer it up for rv'ers coming through town. This question has been asked before so I know people are coming here with their rv's.

Sorry, I live in Auburn and I have never stayed in any of the RV Parks near here.

What I can tell you is that I don't even like driving my car in Seattle let alone driving my RV down town.

Two differnt groups, Denny, and Yesler, were controlling the city prior to 1900. They didn't get along very well so when they laid out the streets they didn't match their streets with each other. That is why when traveling north, or south in Seattle the streets jog one way or the other to link together.

I think I would find a place on the Olympic Peninsula and walk on the ferry.

Make the trip to the Olympic Peninsula and take the ferry. It short pleasant ride ends at the Aquarium area and an easy walk to the market. You can also 'do' the Space Needle easily. The Peninsula is a nice relaxing place to be with many activities, small-town festivals and great parks to stay, including state parks.

As mentioned, Game Farm Wilderness Park in Auburn is nice, the KOA is ok but it's right off a busy road in an industrial area. It's probably your best bet if you want to take mass transit into Seattle as was mentioned. I really like Tolt MacDonald Park in Carnation, about a 45 minute drive from Seattle. There are wineries in the area to see, Snoqualmie Falls and the Snoqualmie Casino a short distance away.

Downtown Seattle is not motorhome or big truck friendly! There is a size limit (sorry I can't remember) to the length of vehicle allowed in downtown Seattle and no combination vehicles whatsoever are allowed downtown. I worked for a foodservice delivery company and we were only allowed to drive a 20' box truck into that area. Just out of downtown are the two stadiums and your allowed to bring a MH in there to tailgate and visit. I suggest staying at the KOA and taking a bus (the bus stops right in front of the KOA) to near Sea/Tac airport, a few miles away (Hwy518 @ Hwy.99) and take the rail system to downtown or take the bus from KOA to downtown Kent a few miles away and take Amtrack Train to the King Street Station (downtown next to the stadiums) Good Luck in whatever you choose.
