safari kenya edition 1991 8.3 litre diesel

I purchased a class a motor home safari Kenya edition 8.3 litre cummins diesel and I was wondering if anybody had any information on reliability ? It is a 1991 model with 91000 miles on it seems to run great drove it about 300 hundred miles since I had it just checking on some advice before long trip.
  • Have the same 300 in my 95. Great diesel.

Change oil and filter. Change trans oil and filters.

Change diesel coolant and coolant filter and check SCA in coolant is at right level. Grease chassis and brakes and check belts and hoses replace as needed. Carry a spare belt or keep the old one as a spare.
Change both fuel filters and keep a spare set on board.

You will get more miles than you can put on it.

    Pogoil.
  • Good advice given here. The 8.3C mechanical diesel is a reliable engine proven by many miles in commercial applications. They were produced in hp ratings up to 325hp, which was a unit typically supplied for fire engine service but some of the MH manufacturers used these. These were replaced by the 8.3 ISC, which uses more electronics to manage the engine functions.
