Selling a Class A Motorhome

Please don't bombard me with You Can't Sell on here, I know that, and I'm not trying to sell it on here. I lost my husband in March and need some advice. Is there any other places other than RV Trader and RV Net to sell motorhomes. Can anyone give some advice without being nasty? Thank you.

The IRV2 and Escapees forums both have Classified sections you could post in.

In our area, there's an automotive shop with a side lot on the main road. They charge $60/month to park an RV there. It's up to the seller to put signs on it, and deal with anyone wanting to look at it. They do make the seller sign a waiver in case something happens to their rig.

This is a main road leading to a highly populated industrial area. Pretty good turnover rate.

My BIL was going to use this facility until we discovered his rig had another major water leak. First time was fixed by insurance. Second time they totaled it. He got a little more than he planned on selling it. Good deal for him. Maybe you can find a place like this in your area.

Hope this helps. Sorry about your loss.

I've sold two on Craigslist with zero problems. Both buyers were from out of State even tho I only listed it in my local area. I think the key is to price it right and list EVERYTHING about the coach. List everything that goes with it and all service records. Be very descriptive and use all 24 pictures allowed on Craigslist. Also have someone with you during any appointment and ONLY accept a wire transfer to your account as payment. Cash is OK if the buyer wants to go with you to your bank to verify the cash as not be counterfeit. If there is still a lein on the coach, talk with your bank to find out all of the details and they may be willing to accept all of the transfer paperwork. Both of mine sold to the first person to come and look at the coach. I did get several other inquires and some ridiculous offers but I sold both for my asking price. One took two weeks and the last one took a little over two months. When you get a serious buyer, you will know it. Good luck with your sale and check to see if there is a Monaco, Bounder, Tiffin, or Prevost specific forum where you can list your coach.

I'd also recommend a consignment sale through a reputable dealer. There's no need for you to worry about qualifying a buyer and making sure the deal doesn't end up with you being ripped off. There's way too many scam artists out there eager to take advantage of you. You may not get top dollar but you'll have something after the sale completes.

I sold my Bounder on consignment. simple, they had the hassles involved in sales/etc. check the BBB etc. for information on sellers.
In MD I could not do consignment, supposedly they had to "own" everything on the lot.

In addition to others listed above, Ebay has a huge new/used RV section, but, be prepared to be bombarded with . . . . well, you'll find out!

You can use the "buy it now" option or go to auction. Your choice.

Sorry for your loss. I would talk with your local dealers and see about consignment and great advice regarding scammers. Do you know any friends that you met while camping that may be able to help you just a thought.

You can use local outlets, also craigslist.com has become a major outlet. Facebook also has a lot of localized classified sales.

If none of these are attractive to you, you may be relegated to locating it on a highway with good traffic or to working with a local rv dealer on consignment.
