Overall the bath and a half floor plans would work well for us but the 1/2 bath in the Dutch star and the Ventana seem to be so small they are almost not usable. I am 6'4" so it is a concern for me.
Anyone with the bath and a half have any comments?
Depends on what you call small, I guess. We find ours to be more than adequate, but then we're both smaller than average people. This is where DW keeps most of her stuff, as to not get it mixed up with mine. Also used by our guests and visitors, if any.
Like other things, we're not ever going back and now there are some gas units out there, under 40ft, with two full baths. - Mile_HighExplorerIt's all personal.
We liked the feel of the full large bath with laundry in the back. The 1/2 bath servers as the quick access on the road and as the guest bath for our daughter or grandson. - Bruce_BrownModeratorAre you looking at the 40'ers or the 45s? Just wondering.
- DSDP_DonExplorerI'm 6'2" and a svelte 300 pounds. I primarily use the half bath in our Dutch Star, since my wife goes to bed earlier than I do. It's tight, but works for me.
Some don't understand the reason for half baths. In the early years of RV's, the bathrooms were all in one and usually tiny. When people looked for a new coach, they started looking for split baths which were the fad for about 10 years. In the past five years or so, people wanted to move back to the all in one bathrooms, but wanted larger than the first generation models. The industry moved to the rear bath which offered a lot of room. The issue that arose, you couldn't access them while driving....hence the birth of the half bath.
With that said, we really love our half bath and would buy one again. - 2gypsies1Explorer IIIIf you're getting 1-1/2 baths and the 1/2 bath seems too small then use the full bath. Personally, I don't see a reason to have 2 baths in a RV. That's wasted space.
- db7512ExplorerNo problem with our Ventana 4037. Yes it is a little tight but it is our traveling and back up restroom.
- Mr_Mark1ExplorerI'm a shorty, 5'7" 450 lbs. LOL, no, 180. Our half bath is fine as the full bath is in the back. It's nice to have the extra accommodations when needed.
MM. - chuckftboyExplorerMy last coach had a smaller 1/2 bath but still had plenty of room in front of the toilet and 1 under cabinet storage. My present coach has a full 4' x4', 1/2 bath with 3 good sized cabinets. Guess it depends on what the manufacture had in mind when they designed it.
- Mile_HighExplorerOurs has an angled door that makes it easily accessible with the slides in, but it does cut down on the room in there. Looks big when the door is open, but gets Claustrophobic a bit with the door closed.
- Two_JayhawksExplorerI'm only 6' 225lbs and I remember the first time I saw the half bathroom. My thoughts were "wow that's small". I guess I have gotten used to it because I am quite fond of it now. BTW you should check and make sure you have enough driver seat room when FWS is closed. I have heard other taller guys say it's too tight (on DS & Ventana).
