slideout problem

My slideout goes in/out with no problem, but when it is sent in or out the rod still make a clicking sound and the rod makes a slight movement rather than stopping complete when the action is completed. Is this the in/out switch or the motor.
  • The rod that runs from the motor to the gears that moves the slideout
  • It could just be play in all the moving parts (gears to rod to other side gears). It could also be that if there is play in connections (rods) the holes for the bolts are getting elongated (egg shaped). If your slide out is power gear they are connected using a round shaft into a square tube back to a round shaft. If loose you could redrill and go the next size larger bolt. Or just live with it.
  • The reason I thought it may be the switch was it does not quit when the slideout when extended/closed but still makes he slight rod movement.
  • I don't think the switch can know when the slide is open or closed all the way. There may be an adjustment to stop the motor down by the motor or at the slide stops when it is open and closed you will have to check. Mine does not have an auto shut off I just stop pushing the switch when it is opened or closed all the way.
  • Both of our slides have a slip clutch, it you hold the switch after the slid is all the way in or out you get the noise when the slip clutch slips. The instructions say to not hold the switch after the slide is all the way in or out because you could wear out the slip clutch.
  • Mine was doing the same thing. You may already know this but there is a "shear bolt" at each end of that square shaft where it connects to the gear. I found that one of my shear bolts had broken on the nut end but the bolt was still stuck in it. So it had some slop.
So make sure your shear bolts are still intact.
