Before you shoot ANY lubricant at anything that is not metal, shoot a piece of styrofoam (like a cup) with it first. It it attacks the styrofoam, do not use it on rubbers, plastics, etc. just to be safe. Styrofoam is sensitive to solvents so it's a pretty good "canary".
