storage door openings

We have a 2000 38ft HR ENDEAVOR and would like to make the storage door open more than what it does now. I don't like to bend over that far to get into the storage. I know that there are certain doors that must be left standard such as the ones under the slides and furnace. We have tried just moving the piston up but find that we can't close the door. There should be an easier way.
Thanks for any input :@
  • My doors under the compartments also have a step on the side that I can put the piston end into. This allows for full opening of the door. There is also a safety feature that will prevent the door from getting crushed if DW hits the button to put the slide out while I am down there. The door will close down with the strut being compressed so no damage is done. The only one that doesn't permit this is the one over the furnace vents. Check if HR may have done something like that also.
  • you will have to go longer for the strut. They are sold for the inches of travel and the weight that they will hold up. If you have a door that opens the height that you need see if it has a number or measure it. The doors under my slide have a racket piece of metal that allows one end of the strut to slide up and down about a foot. The next time out to the Rv will get you a picture if someone doesn't have one.
