- mkguitarExplorerI think deciding not to mount on the front is the limiting factor- and hanging 40 pounds of bike on the front might be better for balance than adding 40 pounds on the back- in addition to a carrier.
We use the rear doors alot- ( chev- 2 doors)- adding a creen kit to expand our space- for that reason a carrier, rack etc is not as much a plus for us. Our van came with a carrier which is sitting- I have been thinking a hinged stowaway type might be better.
mulling that over- we are doing ok with our interior storage space(s)
at some point rather than hanging stuff and boxes all over the exterior of a B van, a larger motorhome might be the better choice.
* surprised this last trip from PHX to Oregon and back how many bicycles we saw on road or shoulder which looked to have fallen off of racks ( and a couple of sleeping bags)

They are definitely spendy. You would think someone else would offer something similar.
I think that link I posted to the article explains it - the Stowaway decided the engineering issues were too great to add bike racks to their boxes. So the one from Canada did solve the problems, but it would explain why it cost so much. And, at that price there is probably not a very big market.
I agree with the notion that the stowaway is way too $pendy ..... but what's a B owner to do that needs both a storage pod and a bike rack but doesn't want either on the front of the B? - lfloomExplorer

Why not just hit the contact tab and ask them in email? Then you do not have to call, or deal with a possible language barrier.
But, from a couple of years ago - http://roadtreking.com/second-thoughts-about-the-stowaway2-cargo-box/
$2100 (CDN) and they do not ship to the US, but that might have changed.

Calls to Canada are typically similar rates as USA calls ( depending on your plan)- you could also use skype or magic jack through your computer to lessen the cost.
If you have a t-mobile cell phone, CDN calls are at no extra charge.
Be prepared for a possible language barrier- they are in an area when English is a secondary language.
BUT the company is dunderheaded not to list prices and other info on their site...I always assume it is overpriced

yep i think you are right about the price but i have not found an alternative. Called VZ and for $5 i can get 30 days of calls to Canada. Think i will go that route. - mkguitarExplorerCalls to Canada are typically similar rates as USA calls ( depending on your plan)- you could also use skype or magic jack through your computer to lessen the cost.

I think this is the trailer hitch product that you had seen. The company is based in Quebec.

Thought of getting one myself, but they are kind of pricey.
Thank you, Thank you so much, that is exactly what i was looking.
Just wish i had been smart enough to find it myself.
Next question is will they ship to the US and what is the cost, i could not find either on the link. Thanks again for the info !!!!
To answer if they will ship to US, why don't you just call them instead of asking here? Their phone number is listed in the "contact us" section of their website.
Not that your sarcasm deserves an answer but i did not call because it is a Canadian # which is not free or inexpensive and i'm cheap. :B
Really appreciate your input,it was very helpful (sarcasm). - DownTheAvenueExplorer
